Paris Brothers Kansas-City USA opts for Copal's high-tech solution for unloading coffee beans from sea containers
Our first machine for the French market is currently being produced. Tramar, leading coffee warehousing company in Le Havre, will soon unload their coffee bean bags from sea containers with a machine from Copal.
Like at many places, Tramar is facing difficulties to find people to unload the containers manually. The younger generation is not willing to do this heavy work and employees who are still willing to do this, are reaching the retirement age.
Avoiding the risk on potential labour claims for violating laws related to the maximum allowed lifting weight is another argument for Tramar to automate their coffee bag inbound with Copal. The system also offers flexibility in unloading and can empty containers even after regular working hours.
Tramar is a specialist in coffee bags unloading and warehousing. Their dedicated 12.000-square meter warehouse is especially designed for coffee and is LIFFE nominated. With storage capacity of 160.000 bags of coffee they handle approximately 50.000 tonnes coffee per year.
Nestlé’s largest coffee factory located in Toluca Mexico has three automated container unloading systems from Copal since January 2016. With the important product developments in the last few years, it was time to upgrade this highly valuated customer with the most updated latest technology.
The first stage of this project has been finished recently. The improved gripper, manipulator, frame strength and less power consumption show a big step forward. Nestlé reports an important reduction in unloading time by emptying their containers in half the unloading time now compared to before the upgrade.
We are starting soon the second upgrade for an optimal prestation of our machines in this factory.
Nestlé always strives to improve working conditions. “Respect for people is what drives us toward automation”, says Nestlé’s factory manager Paulo Cendejas.
We are ready to start automated coffee bean unloading in Kansas City.
Our colleagues were working hard in the last few weeks on the installation of our Copal machine at logistics specialist Paris Brothers. This company will use the system in their new coffee roasting plant.
Nice project!
