Copal has developed a so-called Spidergripper for the unloading of jute bags and bales filled with for instance cacao, coffee, nuts or tea. With this gripper, which can be easily connected to a Copal C2 Container Unloader, it is now possible to unload jute bags automatically. Not only does this mean a saving on time and costs, but also the heavy physical effort of employees becomes history.
Press release Spidergripper
Nestlé, the largest food company in the world and leader in the field of Nutrition, Health & Wellness and Copal Development B.V. have signed a contract regarding a solution for the automatic unloading and palletizing of jute bags filled with coffee beans.
This so-called ‘Bags handling line’, has been developed by Copal Development B.V., in close cooperation with Symach B.V. and Wemo-Techniek. The system unloads jute bags from containers effortlessly, detects humidity, takes samples of the content and automatically palletizes the bags with a high stacking quality. Next to that, rejected bags, due to humidity or damage, will be automatically separated from the line.
This is a unique and innovative solution for a well-known worldwide problem: heavy physical work when unloading and palletizing bags out of containers.
The bags handling line is operated by just one employee, which ensures process optimization, reduces operational costs and increases productivity.
This partnership allows Nestlé to achieve its ambitious goals in the field of sustainability. With its mission "Good Food, Good Life", Nestlé aims to create value for society.
Concretely this means the employees of Nestlé are not burdened with heavy physical labour. In addition, the automation sampling and disapproval of bags improve quality assurance.
A number of the bags handling lines will be operational for Nestlé in the second half of this year.
